Why do we have names for things that are not what they really are? Case in point, Navajo White paint. For any novice painter, it sounds romatic and interesting. Being married to a Navajo it sounded even a more appropriate color to choose for our remodeled master bedroom.
It isn't white or approprite or romantic.
What it is is cream and dirty "old-lace" colored.
Do white people think that Navajo's can't get white really white, or they don't know the difference because they are so brown?
I knew the difference as soon as I put a test patch on my base boards. I wanted contrast, what I got looks like it is dirty. Which, as a side bar, may not be bad for this team ropin' dirt collectin' family of 5. However, I want one place I can call my inner santum. AND, I wanted it tan on the walls, which I have, and white on the doors, trim and ceiling, which I do not have. Well, Home Depot will take it back. I am looking for Ultra Pure White. Why don't they just call that "Honkey White" or "Glow in the Dark Ginee"? I told Scott I wanted to be in that room by Friday, carpet and bathroom or not. Now I have to make a trip to ShowLow to make it happen. I wonder if he even listened to me when I told him that Sunday. He probabally thought I was nuts.
Nov. 1st, Met "the boyfriend". I will edit this post later on with pics. He had to ask what I thought of him. I don't know what I think of him. Years ago I thought I liked my sister-in-law. That was a big mistake. She still is material for Jerry Springer episodes; she makes for great, shocking gossip. I like to think I learned a lesson with her and will take it slow with "the boyfriend". I do think it is potentially the end of the Nikki era at our house... more to tell in the future, but I feel sorry for my kids. They have had her all to themselves all their little, cute, selfish lives...
