Paper on plagiarism.

A paper is due on Monday on the how tos "not" or the don'ts of plagiariasm.

Someone said this week, it isn't my fault the paper is lost. I think my proofreader should re write it for me and then I will copy down what she wrote. It is only fair.

Irony?

When the adv. grade is a 50%

Ok so gave my first test. I tried my hardest to make it like the power point presentation and the worksheet. I thought about what I wanted to test them on. Wrote a test, then a worksheet, then the power point. I was really proud of myself for thinking so well and hard on the state standards and the objectives I wanted them to reach.

Then I started grading

and kid

after kid

only made about a 50%.

It so can't me, can it? Did they study? I made the vocab multiple choice/true false. I made questions that were word for word from the worksheet. I wrote the same scenarios that I had on the worksheet but I changed the details and made up 4 of them instead of three.

Really, where did I go wrong?

It is a rhetorical question.

Day two of the back to school special

I have ended the second day of school with much sastisfaction, a little sadness, a pinch of worry and a thankful heart for a small town.

I am sastisfied that I have scared some of the freshmen- not for long I know. Too many things in the classroom make me laugh. So, I will strive to emulate Mrs. Borg as much as is suitable. She is a great teacher and those kids who don't get her will be at a disadvantage. I am also glad Orinda Herring is here. She is beginning to be a good friend. I like her alot and I can see she is a teacher. She has it in her blood. She is good. I can't wait to see the veteran she grows to be.

My sadness comes from prying my baby off my arm every morning into the capabale hands of Mrs.H. I never got to be with the others; I didn't see them cry and once they were old enought to do it, they had a routine of going. But it is killing me with Kelsey. She has not slept well in a week. I feel like it is our fault for having poor money management skills. I wish every morning that I was home with the kids, the cows, the crazy horses, goats, my jammies, and things instead.

My worry is for the kids at the bus stop. I can't ahve them get on at our house. 1 they would ahve to walk 1/4 a mile. 2 they would have to wait for 30 minutes after I leave. I find the bus stop as close to the baby's sitter as possible and hope for the best. I worry they will worry and run to the HS. But that is the beauty of SJ. If they did, so what? I could take them or someone else would or my mom would be driving by. I just hope that crazy carnie ( from a few years ago) doesn't have cousin who will eat little kids.

I never was jealous of stay at home moms until this year. I thrived on my dual roll. I like change aned just when I would be sick of one thing, I could get to do the other. But this year, I have to discipline my mind to find the good in going to work.

It is the worst in the morning and the afternoons, during the day, I can still be ok with teaching. I am grateful that my hubby has a good job, I am grateful that I still have a job, i am grateful for thw two sweet girls who are my aids, I am grateful for 3:25 in the afternoon, I am grateful for the blessing I received that said that I will be helped to find a way to manage my home and job.

You could pay ME the big Bucks

I have mentioned the baby's hand. See below if you have not read it. First of all DR. Travis Heap is the bomb. In a era when every one of us is pushed to do more duties for same or less money in our jobs, people tend to shut down and do only what they have to. And I don't blame them. But once in a while when you need them people go the extra mile and don't say "that isn't my job" I feel that way about Travis Heap today. I think he took part of his lunch hour to see the baby. And a Route 44 coke from Sonic was not payment enough.

I had wrapped it like an unoffical pro, her hand had extra padding around the blister area. He said I did fine. (yea me!) I can't keep her from crawling or biting it. I can do my best to keep her comfy and clean and free from infection. He checked it out and pronounced it ok for now. As ok as a burn on a baby can get.

So a trip to RV, a stop for drinks at Sonic (really Trav only a coke with 1 million drink combo choice??? I can never never decide and have to get a new one each time) the baby will heal in her own due time. I should get paid the big bucks to be a dr. But don't ask me to give you shots.

Pics to follow.

What is the opposite of helicopter parenting?... Oh, yea, Being an IDIOT.

So I am an idiot. As if that was a new revelation. Maybe some of you don't know that yet, but I am. Case in point. (this is not an invitation to call CPS). After crawling for weeks and seeing a nightlight for her entire life, the baby decided to touch the dang thing yesterday. I was in the kitchen starting lunch. She was being a baby and exploring our house, looking for the older kids to bother/play with. She found the night light. She sees it everyday, it helps guide our way down our dark narrow hallway. She has blisters on 3 of her fingers and 1 on her palm. the kicker was that it took me 5 dr offices to get help yesterday- the two in town were either gone or not available; how does a town just not have drs? I even called in RV and SF; I may still have her seen today if I can get in to the 2nd dr I called in RV. I don't know if they are serious 1st degree or small 2nd degree burns. I have a prescription and lots of gauze right now.

Then this morning, while waiting to call the drs office, I was reading an article about helicopter parenting and decided I am not one of those parents. The symptoms later in childhood/teen years is a lack of responsibility for ones own actions and an expectation for a parent or adult or anyone to bail them out. I know that the burn was a bad situation, but I don't want to spend my life fixing my kids problems either. I want them to make good choices in bad situations. I want them to say "It was my fault" and not feel shame but a humble desire to change. I defiantly don't want to be like some people and have everyone one of the adult kids live with them for a period of time and be ok with a permanant stay.

I don't know if the burn in the summer of 09 can quaify as a learning moment, but could I just be a non helicopter mom without earning the CPS award for idiot of the day?

Maybe I should change my blog name to the dumbest mom not caught on tape.

Still a Home body after all

We have had a busy week to say the least. We have gotten in 2 family reunions, a trip to the drs and the mechanics, working and a roping. But by Saturday this homebody was ready for home.

We started off at the Heap reunion where we took 4 horses planning on riding some time that week. It didn't happen becasue one day two horse decided to get caught up in their lead ropes. They both have rope burns on legs. The second horse was really scary he had the lead rope sucked down so tight on his nose that when he fell to the ground he was passing out. Luckily my little bro wa there to be more brave on both counts than I.

One horse started rolling alot and that was too much for me in light of the previous horse incident that I have had last week. We had a horse colic and I am not ready to talk about the detail even yet. Let it be only said for now that after 12 hours he died on my watch anyway.

Horses went home soon. Scott worked all week like normal and I was left to defend the camp fires. He came back to camp with his infection showing new growth. It bothered both of us so much that he got a new perscription and a shot in the booty from the dr. It is a staph infection we found out.

Truck was running poorly; took it into Hatches ( I don't like that place at all) and luckily it was a part that was under warrenty and cost us $0. Whoo hoo to that.

Got home sunday and the D*** goats had eaten all my garden except the tomatoes. They got out and had a field day. They are gone as soon as possible.

Even though the house is a tornado site right now; I am glad to be home. Love my own bed in my own house. ( with no snakes, bats, or Fred Pockets aka the chicken eater)

Grateful for a pandemic: it's my best life

As I lie in my bed on day 45 of stay safe stay home, reducing the curve with masks, I am brought to tears with gratitude, over again, for th...
