Saturday is a special day, Its the day we get ready for Sunday

I love days like today. We slept in til 7 (late for us).
We had good laughs, snuggles, hugs and kisses with our kids in bed. I thought that bed would only hold the four of us but somehow we fit another in it too.

We took down fences, threw winter trash away, played in the sunshine and took fences down.

I sat in the truck and took pics of the baby in her girly girl hat. The older kids romped up and down the pasture- chasing cows, dogs and each other.

Scott and I talked and speculated about what our future would hold and what direction the Lord will want us to take in '09. (Love when my hubby waxes spitural; I first fell in love with him in church when I saw him be affected by the spirit. I knew then I had to have a guy in my life like that)

Later we went out to eat for good chicken fried steak and then grocery shopped.

Days like these are not to be forgotten quickly. They are my favorite.

Are you a Jill

If you have ever watch the tv show about Tim the Toolman Tailor, you will know his wife Jill. Among being the only girl in a family of rough boys, she is also famous for being a bad, bad cook.

I am a Jill.
I never knew I was until I married my beloved, Scott. He has informed me of my talent. ( Or lack there of). The funny thing is, I don't think he knows, even after all the times I have told him, that he is a pickey eater. His pickiness has to do with the visual aspect of the food.

Two cases in point: 1. Thursday night when we had pinto beans, brown rice, salad and fry bread for dinner. For starters, I hate, hate plain beans. However, Crazy teacher from 2 years ago gave me a recipe that doesn't suck for beans. It calls for adobo chilies, which I didn't have on hand, so much to the chagrin of my sister Heather's memory who says I always improvise recipes, I improvised. I added a small can of tomato paste and 1/2 a can of el pato. It made the beans thick, a little like chili beans. NOT GROSS, but visually different.

Guess who griped like a 5 year old about it?
Yep,
you guessed it, Scott. I luv him. Really I do.

But he can eat at Corkeys any time he won't eat my cookin'. He did eat it; said it was ok. He even went back for seconds.
If any of you have seen Scott lately, you can tell he is starving from my cooking.
I feel for him.
Really, I do.
I think he will be needing suspenders soon.

Ahh, cute, You know love is in the air.

If I had a hubby who celebrated each and every holiday faithfully, I would know by his actions that LoVe is in the air and valentines day is right around the corner.

While I don't get those holiday happenings, I get something that I have grown to treasure even more. I get the random out of the blue gifts.

Last week when he came home from a roping, I got a fabulous necklace and matching earrings. He said it was for Christmas, but I did not care, It could be just because and I would be fine.

He called today out of the blue. Usually he calls to say what he needs me to do.

But not today.

Today he called to say "I Love You" . He said he was walking by a phone and was thinking about me, so he called.

How cute.

Love Love him. Ya know?

Kelsey's Sunday

Not posted in a few days, it has been very busy around our house and I have been mulling over how and if to say all of what has been going on in and out of my head. I like the venue for writing but as I have discovered this isn't the place to let it all hang out like a fat lady in a tube top at the wal-mart.

However, I am a chicken who writes (one who maybe will never publish) but I feel the need to write for an audience.

With that said...here is the boring happenin's around the rafter 3. (our house, duh ;)

My mom got a job, finally.- I don't know the whole story reason of why she waited and why she did even though we talk every other day or so. I hope she is happy where she is. I still don't understand why or what went on at the last one, but they say the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Have my sister and brother in law living with/next to us for a short time.

No comment on how/why.

And finally, (drumroll please and loud sighs and clapping) Kelsey's first of many big days happened. I know some were not able to make it, but we had to get it done. It was good and very mellow in a spiritual kind of way. I am glad we do it at home. Now I just need to get all three kids' papers mounted and put in their rooms with the pic of them framed. I think it would be good to remind them of all the good spiritual moments in our house. 'Cause heaven knows, they need to off set the rude things we do to each other with the good moments.

The funny thing I noticed was how big the dress she wore really was. We put Kennedy in it at 6 weeks, it must have swallowed her, b/c Kelsey could fit it. Glad I got some pics.

Post ya later.

Not me this time; thank good-ness

I drove home yesterday. Well, I flew home, like ususal. I always have a good reason for breaking the speed limit. This time, I had to get to the bank before 5 to run an errand for Scott. What I saw when I turned onto my road in the distance were familar, little black shapes...

"oh, crap" I thought, as I squinted down the road. They are out again. "Why does this always happened when I am home alone?" was the next thought. "I think I will go down there, shoot one, skin it, and eat it-raw. That would show him/or her!"

A burgandy surburban "joy riding" (AKA going too slow) ahead of me on the road made me worried that those lovely fence jumpers would be push further down the road so that I would have a harder time hearding them and putting them back in the pasture.

Luckily, not.

As I got closer to the barn, I saw two more of them in with the horses; they had ducked through through the lovely antique (aka broken and worn out) fence we own and were milling around. But,

SURPRISE!! Not ours this time, in your face all the cow complainers! Yaa hoo for me 'cause I was in a hurry.

I thought about all the times ours have been out over the last year while I was pregnant no less, and all the kind and not so kind neighbors who have helped or complained about them respectively to me about them.

(side bar: I wonder what the complainers thought I, who was pregnant, was supposed to do alone about them? And if they were in that other's pasture, why didn't they fix their 1/2 of the fence?, And has anyone heard of that lovely law in AZ about free ranging and grazing?) but I digress...

Therefore, remembering all the times that I had felt overwhelmed, discouraged, and down right mad, I had a spurt of service motivate my legs out the truck door and down the road. I didn't get them all back where they go, but some remembered where they had jumped over and like maniacs with the boogie man after them, jumped back in. I felt good that I had helped my unknow fellow cow owner out.

However, on my drive to the bank, I wondered, should I call the owner of the pasture to let him know about his calves or should I let it go? I hated when people call me instead of Scott. I get left with the clean up work when he isn't home.I enjoyed my few minutes of blissful ignorance before those phone calls.

Maybe he/they?? would like to bask in the bliss today, too.

Roping, again. ZZZ... boring blog day

Scott has gone roping again. He left Wednesday night in a flurry of activity. Ok, really I was the one flurrying and he was the one playing solitaire on the computer. To give him credit, he entertained Kelsey while I ironed and made dinner.
He got himself ready but somehow couldn't be the one to clean out the horse trailer of everyone's stuff. I don't get that. I should have piped up and said something.
He and I didn't connect up much on Thursday except on quick phone call about the funding for the new horse. I was really blessed because I had so much to do Thursday. I didn't want to have to add driving out to the P's ranch on top of all I still had to to when it was 5:30. I found P in the beauty shop! Whoo hoo for me- a two for, save gas and time.
When I talked to K on the phone he was the one who told me P was getting her hair done. He said he was going to drink beer until she came home. I guess you had to be there, but the way he said it struck me as funny at the time.
With all I had to still do: feed kids, feed baby, baths, teeth, Fam prayer, eat, and such I didn't get to feeding the horses until 9. I wanted the baby to be down for the night before I went out.

Updated Budget

So we have 400 dollars less in our savings account than I thought we had. It has to do with some one who will remain namless's shopping spree while in Kentucky. Our checking account automatically draws money from savings when we get low. Our budget is heavy on the front end of the month- all bills see to be due from the 1st to the 15th. So when we spend out of budget during this time, it crunches us until the end of the month when we have to play catch up.

I don't understand what he is thinking...

Money must grow on trees in his dreams, but in our checking account?

Not

So

much

Now, he just left for a roping weekend. I told him I would figure it out. (why I said that I don't know) Hope that check from his work shows up to pay for all his spending in Kentucky. Like $ 300 worth in two days.

Whatever, Martha !!

Checks in the Checkbook

Hey,

Just because there are more checks in the check book and your debit card is not bent and broken ( someone has not taken it away from you)

Doesn't mean you can spend what you want.

If this applies to you as it does a certain someone in my life....

( Fill in the blank with your choice of punishments for yourself)

Ugg and Argghh.

Seeing and being the change

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. -Eleanore Roosevelt. As we enter a new age of a presidency. Remember one woman who tried to make things better in a time when people worked against the idea of freedom for all.

I read a loud to the kids today, willing them to see what I can see of this small town life in the 30's. I wanted them to have the epiphany that I all ready know about. That life HAS changed for the better, in some ways. That good men don't get strung up on an everyday basis in our country just for the sole color of their skin, that those kind of good men can become president.

(Hey, I don't agree with most of Obama's political views, I'm just saying he is not swing from a noose out there some where for daring to raise his head and voice to make himself heard). YOu got to admit, he is personable.

This book we read every Jan/Feb commemorates Black History Month, but I want it to do something MORE.

I want them to see with new eyes and hear with new ears the world around them. I was raised and shaped by the South- a place that has out in the open racism alive and well today. ( I think other parts of the country hid it better). It shaped my thinking, what I loved, hated, and feared. Although going to college redefined who I was as a member of our country, my roots were grown in southern soil.

I fight against the first impulse of prejudices. I don't think you every totally erase what you were taught as a small child. I think you get away from(or more entrenched) in those beliefs as you get older. I can see change in me-there are things I embrace now that I wouldn't before. I rarely see things with the old "southern" glasses I did as a younger person.

I learned a new way of seeing as I grew bit by bit. Hopefully, I give my students that bite of a new way of seeing the world as we read. Maybe not. I don't know. There are teachers who I can't remember, I will be that same thing for most of my students.

But there will be one or maybe two who remember me and the life lessons they learned about racism, prejudices and respect in good ole' room #3.

Visual lesson to start teaching respect. Lesson 1

Toothpaste to Teach Respect
Before we discuss family rules I tell the kids we are going to play a game. Each group has a travel size tube of toothpaste. First I tell them to squeeze all the toothpaste onto a paper plate. Then I tell them the game is to try to get all of the toothpaste back into the tube without using any tools expect a toothpick (including not using their hands!). Well, it doesn't work. I then tell them that the toothpaste is like words we speak. Once we say an unkind word we can't put it back in our mouth. Then we talk about repecting one another and our family rules, school rules, town rules- etc.

First, Lets define Respect

Respect
When we show our respect for other living things, they respond with respect for us.

- Arapaho Proverb
To respect a person is not possible without knowing him; care and responsibility would be blind if they were not guided by knowledge.
Erich Fromm

What Respect Is
Respect means a lot of different things. On a practical level it seems to include taking someone's feelings, needs, thoughts, ideas, wishes and preferences into consideration. We might also say it means taking all of these seriously and giving them worth and value. In fact, giving someone respect seems similar to valuing them and their thoughts, feelings, etc. It also seems to include acknowledging them, listening to them, being truthful with them, and accepting their individuality and idiosyncrasies.
Respect can be shown through behavior and it can also be felt. We can act in ways which are considered respectful, yet we can also feel respect for someone and feel respected by someone. Because it is possible to act in ways that do not reflect how we really feel, the feeling of respect is more important than the behavior without the feeling. When the feeling is there, the behavior will naturally follow.

Life Lessons- Again...(sigh)

Once there was a little boy high upon a mountain. It was cold and snowy. As he was going down the mountain, he met a snake. The snake begged the boy to carry him down the mountain before he died. After much deliberation, the boy reluctantly agreed. As the boy was carrying the snake, the snake begged the boy to let him inside his shirt.

The boy agreed again.

When they got to the bottom of the mountain, it had warmed up.

The boy tried to take the snake out of his shirt. As he did so, the snake bit him. As the boy laid dying, the boy looked up to the snake and asked why he had don'e that.

The snake replied, " You knew what I was when you picked me up."

Why can't I learn that lesson?

Thursday night, Fright Night.

I didn't have time to post this earlier so I will now a few days late.

I was again battling sleep on the couch. I remember waking up to a sweaty baby's head and a little mouth sucking. I couldn't remember feeding before and wondered how she figured it out on her own. Never the less, I let her finish eating and put her sweaty little head to bed.
I stumbled to the bathroom, brushed teeth, took out eyes and went to bed.

Sometime in the night i awake to a firm dry hand pressed tightly to my mouth and a warm breath in my ear.

I screamed myself awake

and screamed; my voice was scratch and hoarse.

I felt frozen in bed, weighted down by another body. My heart was pounding....

Scott was laughing in my ear.

He had come home early. I didn't hear him pull up, the squeaky sticky door open or shut.

Ha

very funny.

Hello world!!

We have another baby in the family. We have been waiting on her to be the caboose ( for now) but we didn't expect her so soon. She seems to be doing well, except no name. She is two months early, but still came in at 5lbs 4 oz 18 inches long. My bro says she looks huge next to the baby nick named "Polly Pocket" cause she was 13oz (!!!!) when she was born.

Mom is ok too. I hope things improve day by day for them. Congrats bro.

The Theme for 09- R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I borrowed this idea from a friend. (If she doesn't feel comfie with this let me know I will get rid of it). But I think our family will have a theme for the year kinda like Primary. I know we won't be perfect at this but I would like to center at least one FHE (and it may be the only FHE we have for the month) around this topic. I would like to explore it in our home on a variety of levels.

IF anyone of you would like to do this too, maybe we can exchange ideas. My mom told me yesterday that she heard that Pres. Hinkley said that Blogs can be for good to exchange ideas and journal and booster each other.

Even if she is wrong about who said it, I thing the idea is still true. There is far far to much ugly in the world and the only way to let it win is for good people to do nothing.

So Team Scarbrough, respecting the new year.

I will post "Lessons" and outlines on this idea as I think of them or as I get the sent to me. I don't want it to replace any good thing the church has set up, like if they have areas of focus for families all ready.

I just think that our family needs this idea this year.

So tell me anyone, what do you think?

What Girls' Camp Teaches

I crouched over our fire place at the dawn of my long day, holding a baby in one arm and trying to start a fire for the day with the free hand- balancing on the balls of my feet. I first had to clean out the ashes left by Scott the day before and then start stacking the dry tinder mixed with paper.
Sheesh, there has to be a better way and more efficient. There is- I just forgot my girls' camp lessons.

I remembered last year when Htha B and I had a discussion that turned into a disagreement about what girls should be learning at girls' camp. I am of the opinion that camping is such a great time to learn a variety of skills that invariably will be used at a variety of times during life. Like starting a fat fire quickly that would pass any boy scout test. She said the new program focused on the spiritual.

I am so for the spiritual. Those girls need so much of it today. I over hear things they say and am sad and worried for them. They have a hard row to hoe. However, I wish camp would still teach all the outdoor skills a girl needs. Maybe have 1 a month if they can't fit it in at camp.

I went to one of those camps, but as the leaders changed, so did our adherence to the old camping manual. I learned less and less of the outdoor life skills that I realize I need today.
Everyday.

I didn't know what type of guy I would marry -we all are surprised with that one after the first month. We are a team and have to share in the work load. (Ok, he doesn't share in diapers or dishes and I don't share in the overtime)

I fumble with those forgotten skills weekly.

Wishing I remembered them better.

Cutest is Back

I am glad that the cutest blog on the block is back up and running. I really wanted to revamp the blog I have. So when I found out and had time to get it all straighten out, I also decided to rearrange and change. I like to change things up a lot. Just ask Scott. He comes home to rearraged things all the time. I do it in my classroom too. I like to change seating about 1 a month, and desks about every quarter. I think it gives me new persepective and helps me see things that I have neglected.

The Blog is no exception.

I changed the look and the attitude and the feel. Hope it is noticable. I want to really be me here. Well, not the inside mean me, but the me that I should be.

So, those who love and especially those who don't, I suspect, will keep me honest.

Can't Sleep

Scott needed to do some training in Kentucky this week. He flew out and is in class. (BTW, Kennedy is so, so jealous. She is a hotel freak. She loves everything about them; when she found out that he was staying at one, with a pool no less, she cried and ran to her room)
I am glad he is doing this, job security and all that. He will be learning more about a plasma cutter. ( Cool if anyone has seen what a plasma cutter can do)

Anyway, I don't like it when he isn't home at night. I can't sleep well. If I do try and go to bed at a normal hour I lie in bed thinking and listening. If I don't do so, I lie on the couch until I stumble incoherently to brush teeth, take out contacts and drift to bed.

Last night was not an exception. Then I got up at 4:15 and couldn't go back to sleep. I started texting Scott- it was a good thing he was 2 hours ahead :)

What am I made of ...... TIME?

Ok, so here are all the things I have been asked recently to do.

I may be a little lazy

Ok, a lot lazy.

But how can I get all of these things done?

Chaperon a dance
Chaperon basket ball concessions
Feed the horses
Water the horses
Make dinner
Iron shirts
Feed family- especially the baby.
Grade papers
teach school
proof read resumes
make resumes
print resumes
clean
run errands
take money to friends
check the mail
???

Some of these are never getting done. Just ask my family about that. Where do people get all the hours in their day? Are they on speed so they don't sleep? I knew someone who did that, but she didn't get it all done either.

Popcorn eating

I know Rome wasn't built in a day (So history tells us)

Being gone for 30 minutes. Is a little too much. And it is all my fault. Even if I get popcorn

No we are not POLITICAL nor are we making a Political statment.

OK< so without my sis's permission, I want to state BB's name b/c I need someone else to share in the comments I have receive for 7 years.

Did you like name her (him) after your favorite president?

Do you spell it the same as the president?

Wow, what are the names of your other kids?

I didn't know you guys were so into politics!

Welcome to the world, Clinton Wade Morris.

I would have had Regan Scout Scarbrough because I am down like that with Politics. But Big Daddy had other plans.

Sorry for the vent, rant but no rave.

Again, I have to apologise to anyone I offended with the mood I was having in the last post. I guess if you are going to be in a bad mood you deserve to have to apologise for it too.

I am really sorry if I hurt any feelings about any of the stuff I said- well not so much about the white momma acting black teen, but the private blog vent, I do. I was really mentioning for one particual person who I really don't care for... However, I think I know.

It feels very weird to know someone out there is reading your info. I guesss it is no worse than hearing about yourself in church gossip, except this is quicker, and meaner b/c it is anonymous.

Contemplating Romance

What did you and your husband/significant other picture when you contemplated having children?A sweet house with a white picket fence, kids romping happily in the yard? Lots of meaningful talks around the dinner table, a la “Leave It to Beaver”? Time to actually cook dinner?
The family life I pictured: some kids; walks on the beach; dinner parties with good food and witty friends; great vacations and talks with my cheerful family (sorry, my fantasies frequently involve food and drink); time after the little darlings went to bed for chatting with my hubby and … you know … a little romance.

What I got...

IS

A

House full

Of

FUN>:)

and little fingers under my bedroom door, "Can you see me NoW?"

When you are mad. Ok, when I am mad

I would like to think I am pretty easy going.
But
I am not, I suspect.

Because

I have a mad on that has lasted for days. The kid of mad that lingers like heartburn even after the person who made you mad has gotten over it. This kind of mad where I mutter under my breath " Oh, you think your funny" "I wish I could punch you in the head" and glare behind "their backs" at any comment some people might make. I can't get over it.

And I didn't even start it.

But like a dummy, I get mad when someone gets mad at me and then I stay mad, indignant that that person got mad at me in the first place. I am trying to vent without naming names, and it is not working.

Bloggers? Do they know? Yea, they do.

Posting in a snarking (that is a stolen word of the day) voice, left over from the
butt-ch-ch-chewin- I got

and un-deserved last night from Crown Prince Royal Pain ....

I will now attempt to pass along my annoyance with a few things I noticed on various blog sites:

1. middle-aged white mothers who rap, say "yo" and "dis" or talk like a teenage black boy or valley girl in their blog. It is unattractive and inappropriate. You are not funny. You make me grimice as I can't stop reading about you. The demographic who "should" be saying those things are also equally stupid and annoying.

2. People who blog in caps-it is screaming for the eyes.

3. people who blog major paragraphs without breaks-too boring for words and I can't finish your stupid story about your stupid cat (or horse or whatever)

4. People who go private who are boring- you are paranoid, no one is stalking- but thank you for taking your blog off.

5.I don't know, .... a bunch of other annoying stuff

So yes, I am annoyed today, feeling mean- kinda like kick the dog syndrome (you know, when you are so low on the totem pole that you have no one but the dog to kick- except I feel like the dog)
So, umm, I will log off for now.
Feel
So
unfunny
as if I was ever anyway.
(so you know, I crack myself up all the time)

PMS

OK, two questions while I should be getting ready for school instead of blogging..

Can men have PMS?

Can women who are breastsfeeding have PMS?

ok, I know the answer to the second one,

but I am mood (ier) and want to punch everyone.
(somewhat including my kids, not really going to do it for anyone debating on calling CPS,

something we no so good writers and readers of the English languge call a figure of speach...)

and Scott?

He

Move over Wesie, there is a new sherriff in town.

FINALLY!!! He is here.

Our second boy is here. BB( mr. no name) Morris arrived Jan 5th, early am. He was about the same size as Kelsey-longer. I am so glad for Heather and Chris. I know because of the last one they were nervous and anxious. However, he is healthy, and he is loved. I was expecting his name to be Prince Charming or Soccer Ball- if you took a page from the choices the girls had for the last baby.
;0)

Now if they can get him named. If they are not careful, BB will stick. Look at our house. Sister stuck. People in Primary when we moved to our new ward thought that Kennedy's name was Sister for weeks.

Oh today. Rosa Parks

Today we are watching a movie in school.

I Know Gasp and Gag...

I don't like it when K comes home from school and tells me they watched Mary Poppins.

I can't figure, (ok decipher through her 1st grade speak) what Mary Poppins has to do with a first grades learning standards the state of AZ puts upon us.

ANYWAY, Soap Box time over

BUT, my Rosa Parks movie does have something to do with state standards and all that stuff freshmen should be learning according to the state of AZ. ( BTW should we be trusting the state to tell us what our kids need to know? They can't balance a budget AND AZ is ranked like #55 in education) But I soap box again.

I use this movie at the beginning of the To Kill a Mockingbird book because I want the kids to know what we allowed in the 1930s and how it started to change. It is such a powerful documentary. I had forgotten how powerful it was until I re-watched it this morning with my 1st hour class. I was so moved and grateful that things are different and there are people who try to be better everyday.
I know we still have racism and prejudice, but I also know that we try. It is a good thing to teach our kids what it was like in hopes that they change and learn for the better in the future.

New Year, New Seat in Primary

As with every new year, my children change Primary levels, teachers and reorganize.
( I am 1 year from letting my baby rooners go to nursery - is this bad or good? yea, nursury; boo: no excuse to get out of class, church or ...?)

but I digress...
So, today after church while eating a hodge podge lunch of tuna and cheese sandwiches, cheese crisps, hohos, oranges, and candy, Sister had this to tell about Li`leMan,

K: Mom, guess what Wesie did today?

Me: ( is this a question?, 'cause I can guess endless things he would think of to do- see the early days with Kelsey) What sister?

K: He brought his girlfriends to Primary.

Me: giggling, who went ?( Backhoe, B`chelle#2, Loops, Papa, Pepsi, Idaho, or...)
(BTW if you don't know, Wesie has 5 dudes, 2 brothers, Burr and Budger, 2 dogs, Blue dog, and Fancy, Baby Boy, Baby girl , and all 6 girlfriends, Goldynecklace ....)

K: Backhoe and B`chelle.

Me: what did they do?

K: They sat in the chairs on either side of him. He told Kayson not to sit on Backhoe.

ME: What did his teacher do?

K: (making a snorting noise) gunnsnnikkk. She laughed at him.

ME: Then what?

K: He put both his arms around them.

She motions with her arms wide open in the position of having arms around their pretend shoulders-grinning back and forth and nodding at the two "girlfriends" like the Fonz.

That's my boy. Never let it be said that I have dull kids.

Stand up and Testify.

I am not a person who intimately will tell others how I really feel.

Anonymously, that is another story. I don't know who is really out there reading ( ok, except a select few, but I don't have to see you faces when you grimace or laugh at me)

Therefore, I don't get up and express myself in public and if I do, I usually walk away thinking "stupid, stupid, stupid. I should not have said that," with a sick feeling of fear in the pit of my stomach.
However, this morning I was called, possessed, whatever
I had mulled around thoughts and feelings. Somewhere in my mind I knew I had to bear my testimony in church. This was problematic for me because for the last 5 years or more I have had 2 issues with doing so

1.I don't want to say something that will embarass Scott AND
2. I don't think I have anything to add to the testimony I gave years ago declaring my beliefs.

I envisioned my mouth opening and shutting like a dying, gaping fish seeking air OR Muttering on in unintelligible babbling that made no sense to anyone, but was a painful experience for all of us to bear through.

Not wanting either experience.

But, I did it anyway.

So here publicly, for everyone to privately judge, ridicule, or agree with at his or her own leisure I will give my beliefs.

Of course I believe the Book of Mormon to be another witness and testaments of Christ, His work and divinity.

I believe we are lead by a wise, experienced man who's only goal in life is to lead our church as the Lord would if He were here on this earth to do so.

I know that he answers prayers, gives guidance and direction for my life. I know he knows how much I want to get out of debt and how much I struggle with it personally and as a family. I don't know why we have had our share of hardships these last few months, but I know that those burdens have been light. I can thank Him for sharing our burdens.
I know he has blessed my marriage; Scott and I get along better now than we have ever.

I am grateful for all those around me both of my own faith and of other faiths who gave and will give service- they are such an example to me.

I will start out my 09 with these beliefs guiding me to be a better, faster, stronger, thinner, well read, writing person

Another Day at the Hospital.

Can you believe we have another hospital story.
We do. It is a little long. Hope it is interesting.
So it started out a good day. Scott was preparing to rope at an arena called Dynamite. We had just gotten an new horse, had high expectations for this one; Scott had tried him out before we bought him and felt confident. I was sitting with the baby and reading, soaking in the wonderful Phx winter sun.; I just finished slathering Rooners with sun screen.

All of a sudden I hear this, "hut, hunt" grunt and a lot of thumping around on the far side of the trailer. I got up to see if Scott needed help, (rather if he needed an audience and back seat rider.)

Before I could get fully out of the chair and Rooners (Kelsey) settled in the baby bouncer, he and the horse were moving in a ungraceful manner
sideways,
up,
over,
on three legs and
then Scott flew. He hit a truck and went down, to not get up.

Groaning, he stayed down on the hard-packed desert dirt. I didn't know what to do; many people were standing hovering over him -rubber neckers. Someone else got the horse.

We covered him with blankets. I was unsure what to do. I wasn't panicking- I need more time to think than the situation would allow.

I am a deliberator, "thinker-througher" and a piddler. ..Couldn't come up with a plan of action. After trying to dial on my phone twice, I asked someone to call the police.

The fire department came, but couldn't get in the parking lot, because like I have said before, ropers are dumb-they were parked everywhere.

I went out to motion them to where Scott was. They got his info, back braced him and packed him for the trip to the nearest hospital, Mayo clinic. As I watched them take my baby away, I looked around at the dispersing crowd slowing walking away. I felt so alone. I felt strange, like in an altered state walking through the crowd invisible. I couldn't pick out a face that I was familiar with, they were all strange faces mixing together. If you have ever seen a movie like Fight Club where the guy walks slowly through the crowd as they are moving at top speed, you will know a little of how I felt.

I wasn't poor "meing" but I realized that you have no one in this world except yourself and the Lord. And you better rely on Him. Not that others don't care, but they don't. You know?
I had this "don't know what to do first feeling", so I called the kids into the trailer for a prayer of guidance.

Prayer said, I set to work cleaning up and trying to do things the way Scott would want them done'. Soon the guy parked next to me started unsaddling the horses.
Then Ken White unhooked the trailer.
Then Paul White family held the baby, and got me out of the mess of parked ropers. THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.
I got the money back for his draw out entries and headed to the Hospital.

When I walked in, I could see Scott barely holding it together emotionally. "I'm sorry, babe." he mumbled.

I didn't care. I mean I did a little. I was expecting this blow out day where Scott won enough money to pay Dually off.

But, I didn't care. You Know?

At 3:30 they gave him a shot in the hip. I worked his leg in mock physical therapy to get the stiff out. The shot meds started kicking in as I went out the door to get the truck in the loading area. The kids were with my sister, so Scott and I had some time alone in the truck AFTER the shot took full effect.

FUNNY BOY, He was coming onto me like a bad drunk at a bar. ( not that has every happened to me, but I watch movies ya know;) I can't even tell you what he was saying to me--but cute, lewd and adorable.
We ate,
WE loaded

SCOTT DROVE HOME, 'CAUSE HE DOESN'T TRUST MY DRIVING.( Ya, I know)

And here we are today. Sore, tired, limping, a little more broke and GRATEFUL.

New Horse in the Pen

So, yesterday after much talking and praying we decided that it WAS right to add another horse to our string.

SIGH

Even I know it is right, and I don't want the dang thing. We also made a goal to pay off debt and get rid of at least 1 (I think 2) horses. We will see if this horse can take Scott to the next level while paying off our CCs. I don't know how this will help with our other goal of getting out of debt, but everytime I pray about it, I get that warm fuzzy feeling.

SO, we got Dulley. or is it Dully, Duly, Duley- I wonder how we are going to spell it.

I hate spelling.
